Would This Help Me Learn Spanish?

I'm trying to learn spanish(immersion is not an option) and i'm having my hispanic friend help me,she is of mexican descent but is from Texas and speaks fluent spanish and agreed to help me learn to speak and understand spanish.Well,she has a “plan” for me and gives me “homework” or plans on doing so,which i don't mind,cause it really isn't homework.
Well,here is the plan:
-Teach The Basics;Numbers,Alphabets
-Teach Nouns & Verbs
-Teach Simple Conversational Spanish.Simple Things
-Assign Me A Telenovela to watch and I will watch 1 episode everyday.(idk if it will be an old novela or a new novela,if old i'll watch it on youtube)
-I have to listen to at least 30 Minutes of Spanish Music everyday.We Bought This Cool MP3 Player(not too expensive) and she's going to download her spanish CDs into it and i'll listen to it or she said I could borrow her CDs and listen to them while driving or while i'm just relaxing around the House

We also googled some simple free online spanish teaching websites and she said i could use them for studying and learning more

Is this a good plan?Would i learn spanish?(she said it wouldn't be quick and that it would take a while to learn spanish and that i may not even be fluent but i would know alot more)

  1. Yes this would be a good plan, well i know how to speak spanish and I have a few friends who wanted me to teach them spanish. What I think you should is keep practicing and focus on learning the language.Just don't get frustrated if you messup. I think I should use it on my friends 2. =D
  2. Sounds like a pretty good combination.

    My experience is, however, that many of the people who live in the US, and/or grew up in Mexico/Central America, do NOT use proper grammar a lot of the time. Many such people have mixed Spanglish into their Spanish…

    Telenovelas? Not the best drama/acting, but you'll learn some language, if you can put up with that. (I have a hard time with it…there was this one…)

    MP3? Target has some simple little ones for $10! If you need another!

    There are a gazillion sites for learning Spanish…they will give you a more acceptable grammar background than your friend MAY be capable of, but ALWAYS, a native to practice with, is a help.
