I agree 100% that you need to be committed to the practice and you shouldn’t allow yourself to get distracted. I think one of the best ways to do this is to set goals for yourself. Don’t just say “I want to learn Spanish.” Tell yourself “I want to have a basic conversation in Spanish with a native Spanish speaker by the end of the year…or in three months.”
Make the goal specific and measureable to achieve the best results.
